Information You Send
Names, phone numbers, and addresses entered into a search form are sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. East Palo Alto Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its own servers. Messages sent to the contact address contain whatever the sender chooses to include and are used to respond.
Routine Technical Logs
The hosting service may record an IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and time stamps. Those ordinary server logs are reviewed in aggregate for reliability and traffic patterns. Cookies or comparable tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when a service uses them.
How the Data Is Used
Collected information supports site operation, fault repair, traffic counts, and page improvement. Visitor lists are not sold, and the reference does not build an individual profile from ordinary use.
Outside Portals and Links
Pages link to San Mateo County records offices, California agencies, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored search tools. Any information submitted after following a link is governed by that destination’s privacy policy and practices. East Palo Alto Residents Directory does not control an external portal’s collection, retention, price, or security.
Who Processes Technical Data
Hosting and support vendors may handle server logs while providing their services. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic technical information described above. Data may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. It is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.
Security and Retention
The reference is delivered over an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the operational needs described here. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles stored by the site.
Children Under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. A parent or other person who believes a minor sent information may use the Contact page to request deletion.
California Data Choices
California’s Consumer Privacy Act provides rights that can include access, correction, deletion, and opting out of the sale or sharing of personal information. The relevant provisions include Civil Code section 1798.105 and section 1798.120. Because this reference keeps little visitor data, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable server logs, then removing what is found when the law requires it.
California’s DELETE Act, Civil Code section 1798.99.80 and following, created the state’s DROP portal for deletion or do-not-sell requests sent to registered data brokers. That tool does not change a deed, assessment, court index, voter record, license filing, or city record held by the original custodian. Requests about those records must go to San Mateo County, East Palo Alto, California, or another office that created the record.
